Cover story

Young innovator and technology enthusiast since age 1.

I'm Sam Doggett. I make small apps and games. Doggett Labs is where they live.

Projects

Mahj League Coming to the app stores

Game night, organized. Scheduling, RSVPs, fair table assignment, scoring and standings for your American mah jongg group. iPhone, Android and web.

Not affiliated with the National Mah Jongg League.

Pirate Fleet Beta

Build a pirate fleet, crew it, and send it out on voyages. Raid, trade, and climb the infamy leaderboards with your clan.

Who Done Did It

A Spyfall-style party game for 3–12 players. Everyone sees the same secret location — except the spy. Ask questions, spot the liar, before the timer runs out.

Dino Dash

A pixel-art endless runner from 2019. Run through the jungle, dodge meteors and lava, and eat birds to keep your energy up.

Dino Dash: a small dinosaur runs through a jungle while meteors fall and volcanoes erupt behind it.

How I got here

  1. Age 1

Sat in a wicker chair with MIT Technology Review's 100 Young Innovators issue. Couldn't read yet.

  2. 7th grade

Hosted a Minecraft server, which made me want to know how computers work. Bought Sams Teach Yourself Java in 24 Hours and SQL in 10 Minutes.

  3. 8th grade

Pulled game assets together into Brain Dead, a zombie FPS that kept spawning zombies until the game crashed.

  4. 2018

Started a computer science major at Colorado College. Put my projects on a site served from a Raspberry Pi, with dynamic DNS because my ISP had no static IPs. See the 2018 site.

  5. 2019

Spent a semester in Copenhagen studying video game development. Dino Dash was my main project. It reached the App Store in January 2020.

  6. Today

Wings Near Me, Who Done Did It, Pirate Fleet and Mahj League.
